Elephants occupy an important place in the life of Sri Lanka, therefore, 70 km east of Colombo, in the city of Pinnawala, a state elephant nursery was established, which opened in 1975. Young individuals left without parents or affected by poachers come here. In the nursery, elephants receive a little education, after which some elephants enter zoos around the world. Others are used in heavy work in Sri Lanka. Elephants that have grown up can produce offspring, which is the main goal of the nursery. Now there are more than 80 elephants, the youngest of which are about 4 months old, and the oldest are over 65 years old.

Royal Botanical Garden
The Royal Botanical Garden in Peradeniya is one of the best in Asia. The best gardeners of Sri Lanka have broken up a huge hilly area into park areas that reflect different types of tropical flora.

Temple of the Tooth
In the center of the city there is a lake on the shore of which there is Dalada Maligawa - the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic of Buddha. Since 311, when the Tooth appeared on the island in the hair of Princess Heiaiala, the relic has become a symbol of sovereignty. The city where the Tooth of the Buddha was located was considered the state capital. When the Tooth arrived in Kandy in 1590, King Vimala Dharma Suriya 1 built a two-story temple on the grounds of the royal palace, where the relic was placed. Wood carvings, painted ceilings, doors trimmed with silver and ivory adorn the temple.
Ambuluwawa Biodiversity Complex
Ambuluwawa is a biodiversity complex and Sri Lanka’s first multi-religious sanctuary situated in the central highlands of the country. The Ambuluwawa Trigonometrical Station, in Gampola, consists of large winding tower resembling a stylized Buddhist stupa, a Hindu kovil, a Muslim mosque and a Christian Church. Reaching the top of Ambuluwawa one can experience the most amazing views which could sometimes be covered by the ongoing mist. Ambuluwawa is a relatively easy hike to do which gives you 360 degree views of the surrounding mountains, forests, rivers and towns.
Sri Bakthi Hanuman Temple
In the hills of Ramboda where Hanuman was searching for Sita, the Chinmaya Mission of Sri Lanka built the Sri Bhakta Hanuman Temple which is visited by thousands of devotees every year.
Ramboda Falls
The Ramboda Falls in Sri Lanka or Ramboda Ella or Puna Ella as these falls are called is created from Puna Oya, a tributary of Kothmale Oya. It makes a twin with Dunsinane Falls which is created by Pundalu Oya, also a tributary of Kothmale River, and combines at the base to form a Y shape.

Gayathri Temple
The Gayathri Cathedral also known as Sri-Lankatheeswarar Temple is the very first temple dedicated for Goddess Gayathri. Gayathri Siddhar chose this place because it was a spiritual revelation. It is believed that the Tri Moortis – Siva, Brahma and Vishnu, appeared here when prince Meganath also known as Indrajit, son of an ancient Sri Lankan King Ravana Performed Siva Thapas and Nikumbala Yagna.
Ambewela Milk Farm
Spanning 150 acres, Ambewela Farm is well-known across the island for its dairy products, even having its own line of products being sold all around the country at various markets. Here, the cows roam free, grazing on the green pastures of the farm, and the sky is almost always crystal blue. With wind turbines dotting the scenery in the distance, the peaceful farm is a great place to visit away from the hustle and bustle of the cities.
Strawberry Farm
Strawberry Farm can be reached via Hakgala, Ambewela Road, New Zealand Farm Road. Freshly picked Strawberries are available at many outlets and cafes that serve Strawberry drinks, Ice cream pancakes, etc., and very moderately priced.
Hakgala Botanical Garden
The second largest botanical garden in Sri Lanka, Hakgala Botanical Gardens is picturesquely situated in the hill country, a mere ten kilometres (six miles) away from the city of Nuwara Eliya. The comfortable cool weather that prevails throughout the year compliments the exotic flora and fauna, creating a true paradise. The Hakgala Gardens located at the base of the Hakgala Rock forms part of the famed Ashok Vatika. The Hakgala Botanical Gardens was one of the pleasure gardens of King Ravana. This garden was expanded during the British period and has a wide variety of flowers including an excellent collection of orchids. This is the exotic pleasure garden where King Ravana kept the depressed Sita, insisting that she marries him. It was here where the heartwarming meeting took place between her and Hanuman, who brought her Rama’s ring with the news that Rama was looking for her. He offered to carry her back but she refused saying it would be an insult to Rama’s honor if she did so. Part of this majestic garden still exists. It is also said that Hanuman nearly destroyed it in order to prove to Ravana of the forces against him.
Seetha Amman Temple
The Sita Amman Temple can be seen en route to the Hakgala Botanical Gardens. The prominent temple architecture will not fail to attract your attention. Ancient statues of Rama and Sita can be seen on one side of the temple. The temple today is a modern building with its paintings, statues and pillars decorated with sculptures; all depicting the tale of Rama and Sita.
Diurumpola (Place of Oath)
Still revered by thousands, this holy haven was the place where Sita performed her Agni Pariksha (proving her chastity) to her husband Rama. Continuing the practice for thousands of years, villagers still pledge their fidelity or take oaths there and even in certain courts, this agreement was binding. This place has been respected and worshipped by people down the ages.

Turtle Hatchery
A turtle hatchery is the place where the sea turtles swim and return back to hatch their eggs. Thereafter, the hatchery authorities take care of the hatched eggs till the time they are ready to swim in the waters.
Madu River & Safari
During the tour you will enjoy a scenic cruise on the Madu River with interesting stops. Rafting down the river, you can see many islands with mangrove forests, appreciate the rhythm of rural life. During the stops you will be able to see the 200-year-old temple, see how cinnamon is grown. Get to know the traditional fishing method of the locals. Bring your binoculars for birdwatching as the area is home to about 46 species, including 14 aquatic species.
Galle Fort
Galle is a port city in the southwest of Sri Lanka, in the past a major trading center, and today an important tourist center. Galle is, first of all, interesting architecture. The city was founded by the Portuguese in the 16th century, so western traditions mixed with south Asian ones here, and a very curious mixture of styles resulted. of particular note is the fort built by the Dutch in the 17th century, which in 1988 was included in the UNESCO world heritage list.

Galle Face Green
Galle Face is a 5 ha (12 acres) ocean-side urban park, which stretches for 500 m (1,600 ft) along the coast, in the heart of Colombo, the financial and business capital of Sri Lanka. The promenade was initially laid out in 1859 by Governor Sir Henry George Ward, although the original Galle Face Green extended over a much larger area than is seen today. The Galle Face Green was initially used for horse racing and as a golf course, but was also used for cricket, polo, football, tennis and rugby.
Independent Square
This Hall is based on the architecture of the Audience Hall( Magul Maduwa) located in Kandy. The column and pillers are decorated with traditional Sri Lankan designs and statues of lions are placed around the building. This place is known as Torrington Square in early days. This Hall was built for the commemoration of the independence from British in 1948. The hall was built at the location where the formal ceremony marking the start of self-rule, with the opening of the first parliament by the HRH Prince Henry, Duke of Gloucester occurring at a special podium February 4, 1948.
